World Cup GraphicToon 025:
LESS TECH, MORE LINESMEN

In a typical touch of brilliance to the high-tech problem of linesmen errors, FIFA president Septic Bladder has unanimously opted to have more linesmen at the Brazil-Germany final.

"There will be 22 linesmen -- one for each player -- placed in staggered intervals around the pitch. To save them making errors from fatigue we will place them on high chairs and eliminate all the running," said Bladder smiling at his own genius for coming up with the idea.

Bladder added the linesmen will either be from Brazil or Germany to ensure consistency throughout the match, and the choice of country will be decided by a coin-toss.

"If there is any uncertainty in an offside call, the referee can call for a group decision and all the linesmen will indicate their vote through the wave of their rattles, " said Bladder. "Any dubious votes will be dealt with summarily by sending the offending linesmen to the locker room for an indefinite time-out."
